Olmeda Orígenes' star product
An exclusive product from top quality Iberian pigs fed in the open air in the thick pastures of Extremadura: a thin slice of this Iberian ham is a real pleasure for all the senses, with an incomparable flavour and an extraordinary aroma.
These black Iberian pigs graze freely and their only feed is based on the acorns that fall from the holm oaks and cork oaks of the Mediterranean forests.
Our pigs are eating 9kgs of acorns and herbs every day, hence their aromatic nutty nuances. An Iberian pork meat is easily recognisable by its black hoof and fat infiltrations, typical of this exclusive breed. When the pigs weigh a minimum of 180 kg, they are slaughtered and then the ham undergoes a natural curing process that lasts 36 to 48 months. They are selected at their optimum state for consumption, with many of the pieces showing dots, an indication that these Iberian hams have been perfectly cured. Thanks to their acorn-fed diet, these hams, apart from being a real delicacy for the palate, have beneficial properties for health, with high levels of oleic acid, which helps to reduce bad cholesterol levels.
