The olive oils found in the Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin are specifcally extra virgin olive oils that are made from the picual varieties.
These olive oils are produced from olive trees that grow high up in the mountains among pine trees. Its distinctive yellow-green colour and the flavours are a varied mix of fruits from apple and tomato to fresh grass, mixing with the balanced bitterness and spicyness of the picual variety.
The Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin is made up of municipalities such as Beas de Segura, Benatae, Chiclana de Segura, Génave, Hornos de Segura, Orcera, La Puerta de Segura, Puente Génave, Segura de la Sierra, Santiago-Pontones, Siles,Torres de Albánchez and Villarrodrigo.
