The Balearic Islands has a long tradition of producing olives, both for olive oils and for eating. In Mallorca, there is the epnoymous Designtaion of Origin for olive oils which protects olive oils made with the local variety (Empeltre), Arbequina and Picual. The olive-farming tradition spreads across the rest of the islands where high-quality olive oils are produced, in both Menorca and Ibiza.
